How to create monotone or contone photos in Xara Designer Pro X

How to create monotone or contone photos (monochromatic colour with black) in Xara Designer Pro X. This is a simple procedure using colour in Xara that allows you to take any photo and convert it into a monotone or contone photo, regardless of what colour it is when you start. It's a great and modern artistic procedure that helps brings photos together, using the same colour or make them integrate into an overall design by bringing the images to match an existing colour theme.

We are using the contone functions in Xara Designer Pro X colour palette, when you select a photo, you can choose to give it a light colour and dark colour and the photo will be converted to a contone, using the highlights in the photo (and anything that is not black) to paint them with that colour.

You can also use this procedure to convert images to negative/inverted photos, by simply swapping the colours you choose. You can also convert images to monochromatic or grayscale like this.
