How to Add Guest Names and Titles in the Riverside Editor After Recording

If you've recorded an interview in Riverside and noticed that your guests' names and titles are missing when you open the editor, don't worry — this is expected behavior, and adding them back is straightforward.

Why Names Disappear After Recording

During a live recording session, Riverside displays participant names and titles in each person's video box. However, the files saved after recording are raw, unedited, and untouched. The names and labels you saw during the session are part of the live studio interface — they are not baked into the actual video files.

This is by design. It gives you full control over how names, titles, and other visual elements appear in your final edit, and allows you to download the individual raw files without any elements burned onto them.

How to Add Names and Titles in the Editor

When you open your recording in the Riverside Editor, you can add names and titles back using text fields or templates and the Brand Kit.

Here's how:

Option 1: Apply a Template

Riverside includes pre-built templates that come with name labels, lower thirds, and other design elements already in place.

To use one:

  1. Open your recording in the Editor
  2. Click "Scene" at the top of the video canvas area.
  3. Browse the available Templates on the right panel
  4. Select a template that includes name labels
  5. Edit the names and titles directly in the template fields to match your guests

Templates are the fastest way to get a polished look with names, titles, and consistent branding across all your episodes.

Option 2: Add Text Boxes Manually

Add a text element from "Text" in the sidebar, then add a variant you like on screen. Then, customize it, add the name of the person and place it where you want on the screen.

Save Your Design for Reuse

Once you've set up your names, titles, and branding the way you want, save it as a reusable scene design. This way you won't have to recreate the layout for every episode — just load your saved scene and update the names.
